This immersive 10-week programme, offered for 5 hours per day, one day a week, equips you with the skills to transform raw footage into captivating videos.

Go beyond basic cutting and splicing. Learn industry-standard editing techniques and software like Adobe Premiere Pro in our cutting-edge editing suite. This high-tech environment boasts 14 Mac Studios with pro displays, providing you with a professional editing experience from day one.

This course delves deeper than just technical skills. You'll master the fundamental principles of editing and how it shapes narratives. Learn how to use editing to create tension, establish emotional beats, and guide viewers through your story.

Refine your editing skills with invaluable feedback from our experienced tutor. They'll provide personalised critiques of your work, ensuring you reach your full potential. And what better way to showcase your final masterpiece than on the big screen? The course culminates with screenings and critiques in our state-of-the-art cinema.

The course will support students in making successful applications to full-time QQI level 5 and 6 courses like our Portfolio Preparation Level 5 and Advanced Filmmaking Level 6 full-time programmes.

Google Workspace is a powerful communication and collaboration solution, which offers best-in-class productivity tools built for teaching and learning. Each student receives a free, unlimited cloud storage Workspace account to support their learning throughout their time at GSA.

Each student will also receive a free Adobe Creative Cloud account (All Apps) to support their development as creative practitioners in the contemporary world.

Progression

From this course, students are eligible to progress to Level 5 and 6 full-time courses on our Portfolio Preparation or Advanced Filmmaking Course.


Entry Requirements

Applications to this course can be made by applicants who are aged 16 or over; - entitled to a medical card; - an unemployment payment; - a means-tested welfare payment; - a Family Income Supplement Payment - participate in VTOS or Youthreach; - who have/ or have not completed upper level education ( e.g., Junior Cert or Leaving Cert).

Applicants will be expected to attend a course induction day to help them orientate within GSA environment and with fellow students.
